THE IMPORTANCE OF GOAL SETTING IN ACHIEVING ONLINE SUCCESS!

All my life I have heard about the value of setting goals. From teachers, coaches, managers, parents and mentors. I have heard about the Harvard class of 1954 who as part of the class exercise, were asked who among them had written down on a piece of paper they hoped to accomplish in their lives. Of the respondents, only 2% had taken the time or had the inclination to specifically and clearly record their goals in writing.

 

Twenty years later, the same group of people were again contacted. The same 2% who had clearly defined, written goals had amassed more wealth than the remaining 98% combined! Probably coincidence right?

 

Through the years I have interviewed thousands of people for sales and
management positions for not only my own companies but for the Fortune 50 company I spent 13 years with. My own observations show the same,
consistent pattern; those people who take the time to decide what they
want, when they want it, then map out  strategy for getting it, rarely fail. 

 

So I guess the obvious question is, "If that’s true and provable, why
doesn’t everyone set goals". I don’t have the foggiest idea why. From
personal experience I can recall ventures when for one dumb reason after another I didn’t set goals. Not for the venture, not for myself and not for the other participants. Guess what happened? We FAILED!

 

I am now beginning one of the most exciting adventures in my 30 year
business career. I have purchased a Model Show Home website from

He not only discussed goals once but at least 10 to 15 times during the 3 day event.

 

Is it a coincidence that Dr. Lant is a Harvard graduate and had heard about the 1954 study? Or is it more likely that after making several million on the internet since 1994 with a startup company, that he knows precisely what he is talking about?

 

I choose to believe that Dr. Lant’s business experience has reinforced the significance of goal setting over and over again throughout his life.

 I will learn, I will study other successes, I will listen to Dr, Lant, who has already accomplished what I want to accomplish. But above all, I will continue to set realistic, achievable goals that stretch my capabilities, expand my vision and strengthen my resolve!

 

The fundamentals of goal setting is simple:

  • DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT in each of 5 main area of your life; Spiritual, Physical, Family, Social and Financial. (since we are all in an internet business or want to be, we’ll talk about financial)

  • In clear language WRITE DOWN THE GOAL; ie, I want to make $900,000 per year beginning in the year 2000.

  •  LIST THE POTENTIAL SOURCES of this income and define the activities that could produce this income.

  •  CALCULATE HOW MANY OF EACH PRODUCT OR SERVICE YOU WILL HAVE TO SELL to achieve the profit you are looking for. Don’t worry at this point how you will do this, just what you need to do.

  •  LIST AS MANY OBSTACLES as you can think of that could prevent you from achieving  your goal. List them numerically and put them aside.

  •  One at a time, WRITE DOWN YOUR BEST SOLUTION FOR EACH OBSTACLE. For now don’t worry about whether you have the perfect answer, JUST DO IT!

  •  You now have the MAKINGS OF A REAL PLAN VERSUS WISHFUL THINKING.  As time goes on, alter some of the solutions to the obstacles as better ideas come to you or you receive expert advice from outside sources. 

  •  YOUR GOALS ARE A LIVING, BREATHING ENTITY. As time goes on, enlarge some portions, alter other portions. The important thing to remember is that these are YOUR GOALS, YOU OWN THEM, NO ONE ELSE!

 

As you will come to realize, your goals will take on a life of their own. Your subconscious mind will begin working on your goals immediately, even while you are sleeping or performing unrelated tasks.

 

Goal setting does so many incredible for us it is difficult to rationalize why we can be so dumb as not to set goals in everything we do. The one thing that goal setting will absolutely accomplish for me is to make www.bizzopps.com a smashing success!
